Winter break dorm room checklist3/17/2024 ![]() ![]() If traveling home is not an option, especially during short breaks, we encourage students and families to make off-campus arrangements. If a student needs housing on campus during fall, winter, and/or spring breaks they should select a 9-month housing option at the time of application or work with our office prior to fall break to coordinate a room change, as space permits. UMBC does not provide temporary or break housing for those assigned to 8-month communities. Residents in 8-month communities are expected to leave during break periods. For more information about break closing please contact your RA or Community Director.īreak Accommodations for 8-Month Residents Failure to properly prepare your space and vacate by the deadline may result in student conduct action. RAs will conduct an inspection in each 8-month community. ![]() Reminder: Renter’s Insurance is strongly recommended in the event of flood, fire, or theft. Remove all remaining personal items from the floor and place on elevated surfaces.Defrost and prop microfridge doors open during winter break.Clean your refrigerator and dispose of perishable items.Close blinds on ground floor rooms leave blinds up on all other floors.Turn off lights and bathroom exhaust fans.Communities will be inaccessible during break. Take valuables home including medicine, passports, pet fish, and any other items you will need over break. ![]()
